A brief history of Bodfest and how it came to be
So 2019 will see the 19th BodFest taking place. The Bodicote Festival first took place in 2000 to celebrate the millenium. It has taken place every year since. The original festival was held in Kingsfield and centred around a weekend of family fun including a barn dance, hog roast, live music and fairground activities amongst other things.
The original committee retired in 2012 and handed over the reigns to a new organising group. BodFest'13 and BodFest'14 was moved into the heart of the village and focused around the pubs, restaurant and church, with a family arena at Town Furlong. We had a festival style street market, a food court and 23 bands/musicians playing across two stages. The day passed successfully with many 1000's visiting us on the day. However it was clear from feedback from visitors to the event and local authorities we had outgrown the new site.
In 2016 we moved back to Kingsfield and on the whole a successful event was held. Again with feedback from people we aim to continuously improve the event and to make sure the event is safe for ALL to attend.
In 2016 we spent over £14000 to put on the event - this isn't sustainable without major investment or fundraising and we are a very small committee.
We hope you understand the reason for change and will support what is now the Premier One Day Family Festival in North Oxfordshire.
Since 2013 BodFest has supported numerous village causes, charities and this year for the first time have funded and supplied the lighting for the Bodicote Christmas Tree.
